Pino Deodato
On the occasion of Milan Art Week, the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum opens its doors to contemporary art, welcoming twelve extraordinary terracottas by the master Pino Deodato. From March 28 to April 4, 2025, his works will inhabit the museum's rooms in an intense dialogue with the furnishings, objects and masterpieces of the Renaissance, such as the magnificent Santa Giustina by Giovanni Bellini.
In the precious rooms of this temple of collecting, Deodato's sculptures - both recent and historical - will be expertly placed among display cases, bookcases, bedrooms and ancient paintings, offering an immersive and surprising experience.
The visitor's journey will begin in the Fresco room, where the hands of Boselli's Madonna della Misericordia will "caress" the heads of the busts of the large terracottas "Pensierini" and "Maternità". From here, the journey will continue through the rooms of the museum: in the library, among the ancient books, the work “Tutto” will stand out; in Fausto’s room, a precious sculptural embroidery by Deodato will dialogue with the historical furnishings. A terracotta depicting a man shaving will be placed in an almost hidden cabinet in the majestic bathroom, while in the passage of the Labyrinth a delicate and fairy-tale glazed ceramic tray dedicated to “Cinderella” will appear.
A linen sheet painted by the artist, a true hymn to love, will be placed on the Sicilian bed with the precious wrought iron canopy of the red room. In the green room, however, one of his glazed Madonnas will be placed on a hexagonal table with an ancient patina, completing a poetic and evocative installation.
A magical journey, in which each room is transformed into a treasure chest of wonder. Here, between art, inspiration and culture, the visitor can let himself be guided by a unique visual story, in which the past and the present merge in a timeless harmony.
[...] Pino Deodato is a humanist, an alchemist of the image, always in transit between drawing and installation, between concept and emotion. An eccentric presence in the panorama of contemporary arts, a singularity that has crossed the last decades building its own, highly original lyrical cosmology, made of soft views and evening apparitions, rarefied presences and surprising panic communions.
